Living Climate Stories

Share your climate story with the MIT community!

The effects of climate change are all around us – though they are unevenly distributed. As part of the Living Climate Futures symposium, we are organizing an audio archive of ‘climate stories’ to document and share how climate change is affecting the MIT community. We invite you to join this project by sharing your climate story.

How to participate | Leave us a voice message, of 3 minutes or less, at (617) 468-8278. Share your own climate story, or interview a friend, colleague, or supervisor. Tell us:

  • Your name, who are you, and what is your relationship to MIT?

  • How is climate change affecting you? Your research? Your community?

  • How, if at all, are you adapting to it? How have you been made to adapt to it?

  • How have these changes felt, for you? How do you feel about the future?

Want to share photos or other media? Email us at livingclimatefutures@gmail.com

Who we are | We are a collaboration between MIT SHASS’s programs in History, Anthropology & STS, the MIT Office of Sustainability, Project Indigenous MIT, and environmental justice activists from across the country. Using the qualitative tools of social inquiry and activism, we are creating spaces to discuss and address the deep-rooted links between social inequities, political injustice, and climate change. We aim to advance climate justice through a collaborative approach that centers community needs, experiences, and priorities.

Note: By calling this number and sharing your story, you are giving consent for Living Climate Futures to include portions of your recording as part of a public installation to be shared on our website and, possibly, other public venues. Recordings may also be archived by the MIT Libraries for preservation and future public access.
